Posh Opp Shoppe 25th Birthday Celebration

On 10 November, over 300 guests gathered at the Glen Eira Town Hall to celebrate 25 years of the Posh Opp Shoppe, enjoying a delicious afternoon tea from Kosher Classique.

Actor and comedian Marg Downey served as the brilliant MC for the event.

The enthusiastic audience was serenaded by the charming Elizabeth Finkel, accompanied by Toby Hauser on piano. At just 15 years old, Toby embodies a true mensch, volunteering his time weekly at the Posh Opp Shoppe.

Tributes to Rosalie Silverstein were shared on stage by Trevor Cohen AM and local MP David Southwick, and Rosalie participated in a heartfelt and humorous interview with Justin Graham on stage. The audience also got to enjoy a video celebrating our dedicated staff and volunteers, showcasing the rich history of JCAS and the Posh Opp Shoppe.

The event concluded with a stunning fashion parade, featuring high-end clothing from the Posh Opp Shoppe and fabulous volunteer models and dressers, adding a touch of glamour to the occasion. Every moment of the day honoured the Posh Opp Shoppe and the hard work of the JCAS team and all our generous supporters, who come together to raise money to support the  240 children we help each year, so they can attend Jewish day schools and participate fully in mainstream classrooms and school life.

Special thanks go to our organizing committee: Rosalie Silverstein OAM, Gabby Walters, Melody Curtis (with a special mention to her husband, Steven), Menucha Cooper, Yvonne Fayman, and Emma Carp, who all worked tirelessly to make this event possible. We are also grateful for the special grants provided towards the event by the Glen Eira Council and our long-time anonymous donor, which enabled this memorable celebration.
